All is well in bilston as the leaves start to come out and the wood is covered in wild garlic. We're doing a lot of work looking after the woodland, re-generating the UNDER-STOREY and working on the paths. As ever there's tree houses going up and tree houses coming down, and moles digging and the finest skip food in the land. There's a public inquiry with the local plan going on soon, and some of uss are trying to get our heads round the council's paper work. Hippies are also trying to organise us a benefit gig but we will see if that will ever happen. Watch this space. Come down to site and get involved, theres always something going on, whether its on site or off, we can get up to a bit of mischeif!
Thought I would just get a note up on here regarding Dalkieth, which we've been helping with, just in case any of you fine, caring and active internet surfers have missed this.
ok - what is going on -
well as writing this the camps are still there defending the land and the trees of the dalkieth park. - - - the land is now owned (compulsary purchased) by the scottish exec and there are seperate court orders on the sites against the protesters.
We are expecting the ballifs at any time although we are trying to play for more time with paperwork.
The A68 bypass has been planned using old studies - and an - un-finished multi-modal study - we are calling for the completion of these studies with up-to-date conditions.
check it out - do what you can legally, political pressure, on the ground (get to site) - contact the site or the website to help.
Save Dalkeith Park We've been doing some campaigning at the Local Plan Consultation which happened between 31st October and 9th December (more) We've been busy going to other protests at faslane, Nine ladies, G8 eco-protests and trying to save iceland from Alluminium smelters and dams. As well as radicalising Edinburgh, doing stalls at several festivals and events The Soltice is over and a
new year begins, site is tidy and busy, we have just relaunched the
Sunday Free Cafe' which we will be running on the last Sunday of every
month, our January edition was a roaring success, if you missed out you
missed out, see you next month. The
council have began to make moves and have recently rushed through a
public consultation regarding local development, the council are making
no signs of looking for alternative transport solutions and have kept
the issue out of this public consultation, next public consultation
will be in MAy/June if we push for it! Building are still going up or being improved all the time, come down and get in/e-volved! Scottish Power have just turned up wanting to lay underground cables and cut some trees for access Directions to site from edinburgh: Here at Bilston Glen
Anti-Bypass Protest Site we get more sorted for every day that passes
by. More defences are coming up constantly and the standard of the camp
is steadily improving. We have a new kitchen, a new info-space, a well
sorted and cosy communal, a new guest house and a new shover. We're
currently building a huge communal tree-house and some other
tree-houses are also underway. For
three months we've been organizing "Sunday Free Cafes" (open days) the
first sunday every month, which we intend to continue with. Spring is
here, the birds are singing and the leaves are coming out, we're
looking forward to the summer. The 1-4 of July we're inviting
like-minded for a green anarchist gathering to discuss how to fight the
megamachine and learn primitive skills. The planning
permission for the road is still there. PPL, the company who where
gonna finance the road have gone bust (way-hey!) though, so as it looks
now it's up to the local council to pay for the road. But PPL has been
bought up by Bayer, the enormous bio-tech monster, so they might very
well finance the road. Central government money might also come in as
Tony & co want to see the biggest bio-tech cluster in Europe here
outside of Edinburgh, and a road for the transports to and from it. So we still want and
need more people to fight against this part of the horrible destruction
of our world. You and everyone else who support us is very welcome to
join us! Directions to site from edinburgh: feb 1st is going to be the BANDS - (Main Stage
